What furch is this?
Hi, I just picked up a furch jumbo, even though i have too many guitars I couldn't resist a bargain price.
I can't figure out which model it is though, can anybody help? Last edited by Glennwillow; 02-24-2015 at 08:18 PM. Reason: edited title |

That is gonna be an S model I'm pretty sure. Stands for Super Jumbo.
Depending on wood combos and appointments it could be called things like. S22CM, or S22SM, or S22CR, or S23 yada yada yada. I can't see from the pictures what kind of binding it has. I think I see NO abalone rossette. Normally without abalone it means it is a 22 model, or 20 model. Are the back and sides gloss or matte? Looks like maybe rosewood fingerboard and bridge? It could be a custome Furch build. Is there a serial #? I know I didn't help very much. Can't see the pics very well. HOW's it sound? I have a Furch S22CM that is just plain awesome!!! Cedar Mahogany Super Jumbo Also have a Furch D35ASR. Adirondack Rosewood Dread |

@RustNeverSleeps thanks, I'll do my best to maintain this high standard
@Rikdogski I've only had a chance to have a quick play but it sounds really nice. I'd never played a jumbo before and it sounds quite different from what i expected but maybe I need to try out a few different techniques. I tend to strum quite gently with my fingers but it feels like I need to go at it with a plec with a little more power to get that huge soundboard resonating. But what I've heard from it is very solid and will contrast nicely with my other guitars for recording. It's not an abalone rosette but it is quite ornate. I'll try get a few better pics up in the next few days. Might contact Furch directly to see if they can help out. I also have a Stanford(Furch) OM5 which is a totally different beast from this and unfortunately is in for a neck reset at the moment. |

Hey Boo300, welcome to the Forum
You should see a model number on the label inside the guitar. Look in to were the neck connects to the guitar. It will give you the model number and the date it was made. Edit - i see from one of the pictures that there is no label. Guess you will have to contact Furch.

Pics sent to furch today so hopefully they can help me out.
Paid 400 euros for it, which i think is pretty good for a furch even if it is a lower model. Only problem with it is a previous owner had sanded the finish from the back of the neck. It's still shaped correctly and plays fine but it looks a little ugly. Had a little more time to play it today and I'm really warming to it. It'll take a while to match my technique to it but it's gonna be a fun journey. |

I would guess Furch S-42-CR. Discontinued model, solid top, laminated back and sides.

@pbla4024 From what I can see online I think you might be right. Would have been one of their lower end models so. Ah well, I'm still liking the guitar even if it's not quite the steal I thought.

Mystery Solved
With the all important help of Jiří at Furch guitars, my new guitar has been identified as an S21-CR. It's a lovely guitar but I really gotta set it up to my tastes, I'm struggling a little with the 12's the previous owner had on it.
Big thanks to y'all for the help! |
