Default FS: Voyage Air VAD-06 Acoustic Travel Guitar

Hello,

I just got this from Larry (Martz911) through this forum in a trade, but need to sell it in order to fund the purchase of a Martin that I have wanted to try.
Nothing wrong with the guitar - just need to sell my acoustics (check out my Taylor Big Baby in the classifieds as well).

This model is now discontinued and has been replaced by a lower quality model. The guitar is in excellent shape and has been used sparingly.
It is the ultimate travel guitar - the neck hinge system is genius and easy to work with. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the guitar sounds.
Comes with the Voyage Air transit gig bag as well as all paperwork, and DVD showing how to use the VA neck system.
Check out all the glowing reviews online and on youtube.

The guitar has had some nice upgrades.

*The original pickguard has been taken off and upgraded to a tortoise pickguard - you can see the tanline of the previous pickguard in the pictures.
The original pickguard is not included.
*The plastic pins have been replaced with ebony bridge pins with abalone center dots.

Here are some specs:

Specifications:
• Dreadnought Body Shape
• Genuine Solid Sitka Spruce Top
• Hand Inlaid 3-ring Soundhole Rosette
• 6-ply top binding
• African Mahogany Back and Sides
• African Mahogany Neck
• Select East Indian Rosewood Fingerboard
• Dot Inlay in Prewar-style staggered sizes
• Compensated Saddle
• Tortoise pickguard
• Proprietary Voyage-Air Captured Nut
• Patented Folding Neck-Hinge System
• 25.5” Scale Length
• Traditional 1 11/16” Nut width
• Chrome Plated Die-Cast tuners .
• High-Gloss finish.
• Elixir 80/20 Nanoweb Light gauge strings.
• Thoroughly inspected & set-up in the USA

Here are some nice shots taken by Larry:

Looking to get $450 shipped for this one.

A couple of clarifications:

"This model is now discontinued and has been replaced by a lower quality model." I think the differences are in the type of spruced used for the top, the color of the binding and the gig bag.

It wasn't replaced as the VAD04 already existed.

"Comes with the Voyage Air transit gig bag"

One of the major differences between the VAD04 and the VAD06 is that the 06 comes with the upgraded Deluxe Voyager case which has an injection molded hard top that provides significantly greater protection to the neck and a zip off laptop bag to turn the one piece case into two pieces for a lower profile. You can see the differences between the two bags here:
http://voyageairguitars.com/

Does your come with the original Deluxe bag or the soft one piece transit bag?

Thanks

Comes with the transit case.

Thanks for the info and clarification.
I was told that this model was replaced by the 04 series and the 06 models are being redesigned.
In any case, these are great guitars.

What year model is it?? any nicks, dings, or scratches? You say $425 shipped does that mean shipping is included in the price? Ive always wanted to try one of these. How is the playability/action. Has it been set up or is it in need of a set up?

Hello,

To answer your questions:

*I believe it is a 2008 model. Not 100% sure though. The original owner purchased it new in July 2011.
*No nicks, dings or scratches that I can find - it's in like-new condition.
Frets are excellent too - the previous owner did not play it much and kept it mostly in its case - I have had it for only a short period of time.
As you can see in the pics, the only thing worth mentioning is the pickguard tan-line.
*Yes, the shipping is included in the price.
*Action is nice and plays great - I do not believe it needs a setup, but set-ups are subjective and depends on the player.
It is comfortable for both fingerpicking and strumming.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks!

Final price drop at $400 shipped.
If it doesn't sell at this price, I will just hang on to it for now.
Thanks everyone!

Hmmmm that was the number I had in my head but I thought u might get the $425 for it. Seems worth every penny. I got another couple questions for you

It is solid back and sides not laminate, correct?

Will there be insurance on the shipment?

What form of payment are you looking for?(PayPal?, money order?)

Thanks a million

Zeke, no. The VA 4 and 6 series have laminated back and sides. However, they still sound very, very good – especially if you put in a bone saddle. I did that on my VAOM-06, and it was every bit as good as my Martins. And the side benefit of the laminated bits was that they were a little more trouble free for traveling. I sold my VAOM only because Harvey Leach (who invented the V-Aneck) made me a smaller travel guitar (my Trek). It's a lot easier for me to schlep the smaller one on my travels.

I saw your trek that he made and it looks like a fantastic instrument. Harv seems like a top notch guy. The laminated sides don't turn me off I was just curious and on the va website it wasn't clear on whether they were laminated. I think this is a great deal for the money. They seem like good instruments. Thanks for the info Sachi. Hopefully samuelch will let me know about the payment and shipping questions and we can make a deal.

Hi Zeke,

I always insure when I ship guitars or anything else for that matter.
Never had a problem or issue, but insurance always eases the mind of both buyer and seller.
Being that this VA is meant for travel, it should get to you safely.
I have the original shipping box and packaging for it as well.

I would prefer a money order to stay away from those pesky Paypal fees, but I can accept Paypal.

You can email me directly at [email protected] to discuss further.

Thanks!
