Default Got some archtop gigs coming up

I've got a couple gigs coming up in December with a big band in Nashville, and gigs with the same band in the next 2 months in Atlanta, Biloxi, and St. Louis. Its all comping - Freddie Green style - but these arrangements are great done by Nelson Riddle, Quincy Jones, and the like. Some of the tunes are FAST (e.g 300 BPM with chords changing every beat in some measures). It's the type of gig where I'm forced to grow, push my boundaries, and wood shed. Love it.

I"ll be playing my L-5

Don't miss Bogarts in St Louis if you like barbecue.

Don't forget that Freddie almost never played more than 4 note chords, and often only two or three notes.

Brian

Actually, often even just ONE note!

If it's the right one that's all you need.

At The Franklin Theatre on Dec 2nd & 3rd

This is a bit unrelated, but here's a video I just uploaded with my Gibson L-5 that I'll be playing. I won't be doing any chord solos in this gig, but I love this guitar. It has flatwounds on it in this video, but I've changed to round wounds for a more "archtopy" tone (what's a better adjective??)

Yep - that gives the sound - and stays out of the way of the horn section.
