I'd suggest 2 things: The Audio Technica line for one. All of the mics are good, the bottom of the line AT2020 seems to be quieter than the A6, and can be had for under $100 (sometimes, *much* under), but they have mics at every price point, so you can pick one that fits your budget. They get better (and quieter) as you go up the price range. But also, since you're in Australia (I think?), check out the Rode mics. I assume you can get them cheaper there than most of the rest of the world, and they have some decent mics. I'd also say that new mics may not be the priority, I'd start by working on mic placement with what you have, and you might try without the pickup.

Just though I would check back in.
I got some GAS and ended up ordering 3 LDC mikes. A matched pair of 251 style Fet and one 47 Fet style with 3 voicing and multi patterned for vocals. Now I can experiment with the ribbon and the condensers or all condensers. Now I need more stands and cables. Stereo bar ....... Oh no must resist more GAS, I haven't even received the mikes yet...... Thanks again for all the advice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
