Default 114 - Loudest Taylor?*

I'm continually amazed by the pure volume my 114 puts out. It is easily the loudest acoustic I own.

Is this the loudest guitar Taylor makes?* Other Grand Auditoriums seem more subdued. I don't currently own a GS, but I've played lots, and they really don't come close.

Anyone else surprised by the volume of their little 114?

(*asterisk is for Jumbos - I know they're louder.)

I played one at a GC and was impressed with every aspect. Volume-wise, I think my Maple GS6 might have it beat.

I remember playing a 110 a couple years back and I still remember how loud that thing was. It very much impressed me, volume-wise.

it could be the loudest x14, but the bigger bodies would be hard to beat...

Cool

Can't comment on the 114 per se, but I have owned several 110s and noticed the same thing about them- very loud.

My guess was that the curved laminate back really helped boost the projection. Not sure about the 114- but guessing the same thing is going on there as well.

A friend of ours has a 210e that is the loudest that I've heard. Not sure why but that thing just booms. Way louder than my 710 or GS.

The only other Taylor I've compared it to is the 110, couldn't tell much difference. When I purchased it compared it against other brands and it blew them away. The curved back does make a huge difference. I like it alot.

I definitely am a believer that the arched back makes a remarkable difference in volume/projection ...

I have a 210-E and yes, it is loud. Not sure if it's any louder than my GA7 or maple 12; it certainly isn't vastly louder, if at all. But I agree with you that the 100/200 guitars are a real surprise in the volume and tone department. I thought I had a relatively lowish-cost "beater" (sorry, I don't care for that term much but it's an easy label) when I got mine on a whim ...then quickly realized how wonderful this 210 really is. A real eye opener

Edward
