Which one are you eyeing on next?
CF makers these days are really doing a great job producing great guitars and my Emerald has really set the bar quite high. Nevertheless, I still have my eyes set on the following but I haven't tried them yet and am sure I won't be able to especially with where I'm at.
1) Rainsong CO-DR1000N2 - because I love dreads 2) McPherson Sable - closest McPherson alternative without the breaking the bank to get a wood McPherson How about you? |

The Sable sure is nice... I played it a lot in Jan. And like the honeycomb pattern in the CF on some of them.

Be interesting to see what everyone else is interested in and I probably need to go play some of them sometime soon.

Is there anything you feel is lacking from the X20 that you want to gain in a new guitar?

Sable owner here. What about the X-20 has you considering adding to the collection and maybe I can give some thoughts on whether the Sable would fit your need. FYI I've been thinking about adding an X-20 or a Leviora not because I find the Sable lacking, it is more guitar than I need actually but I like the looks of some of the woody X-20s and love the design and craftsmanship of the Leviora's.

Long Jon;
The calendars are fantastic. I can see why you would really want one. Maybe you could beg or buy one from Sean? If you'd like, I could go through the calendar, page by page, and tell you what you're missing. Wow! You should the page I'm looking at now. These are really nice. |

I also love dreads, and have a Rainsong CO-DR1000N2. It delivers on the dreadnought promise. It's a big, bold, deep cannon - just as you'd expect.

While testing a Rainsong Parlor the other day, I had the chance to hear both the McPherson Sable and the McPherson Travel. The Sable sounds great. But, I was blown away by the sound of the McPherson Travel. So much sound and volume from such a small guitar. Of course, it was twice my budget but they are both wonderful guitars.

I had been eyeing an Emerald Chimaera. With the recent price increases that is looking more and more out of reach though... keeping an eye out for a used one, but not exactly common on the used market.
So, the next one is probably going to be a CH-PA with the I-Beam and hardshell case.

Rainsong BI-WS1000NS is my most likely purchase now, looking to add a bigger voice but still easily portable. The X20 stock neck didn’t work for my fretting hand, leading to pain, but the sound was great.
Just GASing again, I guess!

I keep thinking about that X-20 and then I keep slapping myself into reality.

It would be less painful to just order it.

I was thinking about ordering an X7 custom woody to give me a smaller, travel friendly version of my X20 custom woody but then I snagged another OF660 so my travel needs will soon be met.
Probably the only thing I would consider now is a custom X10 if/when that shows up and if it's a size somewhere between the X20 and X7. I would basically do a custom similar to my X20 with a few changes to reflect things I'd now wished I'd done differently on the X20. As for other guitars I'd like to at least play some day, I wouldn't mind playing a Kevin Michael and a Savoy as those are two brands of CF/composite I have yet to experience. |
