Question Is this from "The Tree"??

This is my McCollum GA, I haven't really noticed before but after doing some reading on "The Tree" today I couldn't help but think that the back and sides on my McCollum could be a cut from the famed tree. What do you guys think? I know some folks on here knew Lance personally so therefore might know (slim chance) of the history of my guitar. I know he did at least 1 guitar with "The Tree", a prototype dreadnought. Anyhoo, here are some photos. at some angles the pattern is more intense than others. It is not as pronounced as some of the examples I've seen online but mine does share some of those characteristics.

I have no idea if it is from the famed tree but I have played a number of Lance's guitars over the years and yours is a beauty. I hope someone with some knowledge chimes in.

Best,
Jayne

Looks like examples of The Tree I have seen, When was it made? That might be useful to know.

I dont know what year it is, all I know is it is serial #70. I tried to find resources online to accurately date the guitar before but no luck. I would guess late 90's - early 2000's?

Lance built plenty of tree guitars, and I would pay 2 to 1 that that is one of them.

Nice! It's not every day that someone you know wins the lottery!

Whether it's the tree or not it sure is pretty. And I'll bet it sounds like a million bucks.

Good on ya

Cheers

Paul

Who cares? It's a beautiful instrument. Seriously, It would be nice to find out, if only for the provenance.

Wink

So, there you go! Not only a Lance McCollum (an heirloom cannon in and of itself), but wood from "the tree," and inlay by Harvey Leach! What a score! A keeper for sure.

I do not think this is from the tree so I will gladly offer you a $1000 bucks for it right now to help you get rid of it...that's cash money!!!

Whatever it is, it's beautiful.

I've heard of "the tree" here before, but don't know the story. Can anyone link to an original thread? (searching for "the tree" turns up about a million threads)
