Default Ryosuke Kobayashi Build Thread

Hi guys, thank you for viewing.
I've just started building an unusual guitar.
I hope you enjoy this thread.

This time I made the fingerboard the first (which is really unusual.)

(Procedure)

1.Prepared an Ebony fingerboard blank.

2.Cut the fret slots.

3.Cut where the decoration(inlay) will sit.

4.Glued the white veneer on the walls.

5.Preparing the inlay pieces.

6.Masking the fret slot before glueing the inlay pieces to keep the fret slots clean.

7.Glueing the inlay pieces. There's a thick MDF caul underneath the Ebony fingerboard to keep it perfectly flat.

8.Cut the taper.

9.Preparing and glueing the white veneer and black veneer on the side walls of the fingerboard.

10.Added some more bindings and purfling and done! (The same photos again.)

Very nice ! Unique Idea ! Not likely to see too many fret boards looking like this !

That's fantastic! You're taking it to a whole new level. I can't wait to see the rest of the guitar taking shape.

Thank you Ryan-San.
I wish I had a CNC, though.
But this worked ok for a one-man small shop

You should call it "The Unusual Suspect"

If the rest of the guitar is as interesting and as cool as the fretboard you are onto a guaranteed winner!!
