I really love the top on this guitar, I'm definitely not afraid of a little wide grain!

Thanks! Dale Fairbanks knows how to select a top that has the right stiffness, stability, and tap-tone, so graining becomes merely cosmetic. Some folks like a top that's super clean with uniform grain, but I like the interest & character of a top like this!

It looks like it's "neck time" for my Fairbanks F-SJ 13-fret!

Here's a pic of the neck blank, truss rod, headstock template, and a beautiful piece of ebony veneer, which has some subtle streaking in it that I just love!

And here is the absolutely gorgeous piece of chocolatey Madagascar rosewood we selected for my fingerboard!

Nice one, did not see the particulars, from looking at the pics, red spruce, mahogany? Looks like a maple bridge plate?

Beautiful! The streaking gives it so much more interest & character IMO.

Yes I agree, Dale has that gift of bringing out the sparkle in all the right places, but they're always very subtle.

Movin' right along...should be looking like a guitar pretty soon! Updated pics from Dale Fairbanks, sent to me earlier today.

I've really enjoyed watching the progress on this guitar, Dale is a massive talent and I'm looking forward to the arrival of several of his instruments here in London in the coming months, in fact your guitar has inspired us to think hard about a 13 fret guitar too...

And we're really looking forward to this one...

Thank you Michael... That Super Smeck looks like a very special guitar for sure! John Thomas lives close to Dale and he's going to test drive my guitar for me before Dale ships it out. Rumor has it they may even make a video, so I'll be sure to post it so you have a little more to go on as you consider a 13-fretter for TNAG...
