Engineering Technology Education in the United States - actually interesting study published by the National Academies Press on this unknown field, which is important to our resurging manufacturing economy and on which several advisory boards I sit.

"The Return" - Joseph Helmreich. A quick, fun sci-fi read.

I loaded up may of these for reading matter whilst in Hospital but today I mainly read "The Fretboard Journal!"
SM, would like to know your thoughts on Slaughterhouse Five.

I loved Slaughterhouse Five. I even really liked the movie (1972). One of the few films to do justice to a novel. In some ways even better than the book.

Have been on a Brad Thor jag for the past few weeks... someone hipped me to his first book, The Lions of Lucerne, and I've enjoyed ripping through all of his others...

Just started re-reading Rick Reilly's book, Shanks For Nothing, the sequel to the classic, Missing Links... if you play golf or have even casual interest in how "the other half" plays the game, you owe it to yourself to read Missing Links... frickin' hilarious, all the way through...

I just checked out Stephen King's book "On Writing" from the library. It's short but from what I've read is a great fodder for wannabe writers like myself.

I am about halfway through Astoria, a historical account of the establishment of a trading post in the Northwest before Oregon was a territory. Good info on the Native American tribes from Missouri to the Columbia River. For a historical account it is quite readable. Thee life of a voyageur and trapper was not for the weak kneed. This is a free Kindle book.

I have been on a Jonathan Brazee kick recently. In the past week I have read "Corpsman" and "Behind Enemy Lines" by him, as well as two short stories (he writes primarily military science fiction). I'm starting "Legacy Marines" tomorrow (actually later today).

Since the end of March I've also read "Chronothon" and "The Day After Never" by Nathan Van Coops, "Fields Of Fire" by Marcos Kloos, "Amerika; Call To Arms" by Paul Lally, and "Heartbreak Hotel" by Jonathan Kellerman. All are science fiction except the last, which is a mystery.

I have "Children Of The Night" by Mercedes Lacky taking a break because it bogged down.

Still.... Reading...... Hamilton.....

(I think I am in the fourth month, but am 61% through it, but a great biography - so much has not changed in 250 years)

Best,

Rick

Best,

BTW - I have also thoroughly enjoyed the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde and The Magicians, by Lev Grossman during the last year!

Currently about half-way through "The Three Body Problem," by Cixin Liu (or Liu Cixin, as the Chinese would write it). Chinese science fiction. It's the first of a trilogy, but I don't have the other two books. Very good.

If you appreciate golf and hilarity intertwined, I DO hope you've read the "Gawf" books by P.G. Wodehouse. Not as famous as his Bertie & Jeeves or Blandings novels, but utterly classic nonetheless.

Cheers,

Dirk
