Default Wall hangers suggestions

Since i have to order these online, looking for best and cheapest option for my sons room:

Plan on mounting a 1x6 board to the wall and drill the wall hangers into the board. I notice that my Martin has a very narrow headstock so the hangers have to be tight. Also, im not sure i will like the wall hanging thing so im trying to get into this on the cheap side. Thanks jed

Do not go cheap.

Cheap = poor quality and reduced features and you will be even less happy.

Get a Hercules locking wall hanger. Although they claim no harm to finishes, I sewed a felt tube and made little sleeves for all my Hercs

I've use string swing hangers for years without issues. They're $12. You can actually bend the U hook closer together for narrow headstocks. I understand your idea of the 1x6 but not sure how it will look! I've always put the string swings directly in the studs. Every other is 32" and looks perfect for spacing.

As long as you get metal ones, doesn't matter whether they cost $5 or $20.
They are rated to hold over 50lbs.

If building your own board, yo can use utility hooks that are not even $2 each but need deeper board as the screw is longer than 1 inch.

Your best option is Hercules.
If there is any weight on them the arms that keep the guitar from falling engage.
You must lift the guitar out.

Spend the money on them. It will always be cheaper than guitar repairs.

+1. I use both Hercules wall hangers and floor stands. Worth the extra price.

FWIW I made this simple one using Hercules wall mounts and routed a cove edge on the 1x6.

Now that is cheap! Funny, I had a couple of those up (the yellow ones) and my wife said "get that crap off my wall!" Haha.

Default Hangers

If you must hang, use Hercules. At least you know that they won't fall out of the hangar.

Default hangers

If you want to go really cheap, get some 3/4" dowels and put them in at the right angles. That will take some concentration to do with as they need to form something of a V and but angle upward as well. I'd use a thicker than 3/4" board behind it to get greater holding power. This will also keep the back of the guitar a git further from the wall.

I use these. Are they similar to the Hercules?

I have used string swings to hang my acoustics on the wall for a number of years now. I have mounted them directly to the wall studs and I have used the Sheetrock anchors that are included. I have hung both my electrics and my acoustics without incident. The string swing hangers are shaped such that the guitar sits quite securely.
