Mystery Guitar
has anybody heard of a Canadian guitar maker named Lorne Smith? Southwestern Ontario, mid1960's
My mother-in-law has a beautiful parlour size made by this guy in 1965; the guys at folkway music in Waterloo did some minor work on it nobody there had heard of the guy. Any info appreciated. If anybody's interested, I can post some pics. thanks in advance |

Mark is too new to the guitar scene to have known this builder.
I suggest you send an email to Linda Manzer. She has been building for some time and will have been connected to the builders within Ontario over the past 30+ years. I've spoken with her a few times and she would be very approachable. If she did not know of the builder, she'll likely know someone who is or was connected to his activities. http://www.manzer.com/guitars/index....-build/contact Stuart |

update: emailed Linda Manzer; she replied in under 24 hours. she's never heard of Lorne Smith; suggested I email 12th fret in Toronto whichI did. They replied promptly as well but nobody there knew anything about him either.
Mother in law says she believes this guy was commissioned by either Peter, Paul or Mary to build an instrument. She also thinks he may have moved to Alberta Again any help/recollection/direction would be appreciated |
