Default New Gibson L1 F-Hole

Always loved the look of an F-Hole acoustic archtop.

Having gas for this, but none around me.

http://www.gibson.com/Products/Acous...L1-F-Hole.aspx

Anyone have any opinions on these or had the chance to try one out?

Thanks

Well sonofagun. Let me check the house for wires and the phones for taps. Gibson's been listening to me.

Now how about that ES-125 RE-RE for about 2k?

Is this a flat top L1 f hole, or is it an archtop? Whichever, it is really cool!

Nice! A lot to like about this one. Will look forward to trying this guitar should I ever stumble upon one.
A little over the top re the inlays though.

Gibson should hire a copywriter!

And, is it too much to ask the width of the lower bout?

Probably 15 or 16 inch lower bout is my guess.

Solid or laminated? Definitely not carved at that price point. $4k seems a bit of a stretch, but I would love to play it.

I'm thinking about 14"+/- based on the photos, as well as an uber-rare f-hole L-3 that I saw at MandoBros back in the late-70's - and I also agree that the anachronistic Super 400 inlays look way out of place...

You're right about it probably being 14", and the copy does say that it is a smaller guitar. Solid top, laminated sides/back?

I think the body shape is the L-1 that was used on the Rbt Johnson and others.

It is indeed basically an f hole version of the L1 Robert Johnson flattop guitar. This new guitar is not an archtop but has a flat top and back. According to a UK website it is solid maple on the back and sides.

Yes, it is NOT an archtop. The trapeze brace fooled me.

No thanks.

I kind of like the twist on the old L1 types but it seems at least a thousand dollars over priced for what it is. Gibson has increased their prices for 2018 overall, it seems.

Oh, not an archtop? Boo.

Wow, this went from "Where can I try one of these?" to "Gibson...close but no cigar AGAIN" really quick for me.

Quite - not even stated in the downloaded specs.

Skinny neck too.
