Free Tablature
For the last eight and a half months I have been writing and recording instrumental fingerstyle blues guitar solos, some of which I have posted on this forum and on which I have received favorable comments. Looking back on my attempts, however, I can see that some of the pieces were not very successful as compositions and that some of the recordings were not played particularly well either. I have therefore eliminated a dozen or so of the pieces and replaced them with new compositions and have also re-recorded the ones whose tempo dragged or was unsteady. As a result I now have a collection of fifty pieces with which I am fairly well satisfied, all of them played on my L'Arrivée parlor guitar, and I would like to make them available to the members of this forum. I call the collection Fifty Shades of Blue, and you can download the standard notation together with tablature at http://www.verseandsong.com/song/acoustic-guitar/, where you can also listen to an mp3 of the selections individually by clicking on their titles or successively by using the playlist at the bottom of the page. All of these pieces should be within the range of the intermediate player. If you are such a player and have an interest in the blues, I hope that you will take a look at my work. Similarly, if you are a teacher and have intermediate students, please feel free to make use of these pieces in whatever way you may find helpful for your students. If you do visit the site, I hope that you will explore some of the other pages and perhaps leave a comment as well.
Best regards to all, Stephen Arndt |

Thank you!
And what an odd coincidence - my band and I call ourselves Fifty Shades of Blue, I kid you not.

My thanks to all of you who have responded. Let me add that if you play through some of these pieces, I would welcome your critical feedback. If something doesn't sound quite right, or if you have an idea for an improvement, please let me know. As I mentioned, these pieces represent eight and a half months of work, which is exactly as long as I have been playing guitar. I wrote them as a way to put into practice the things I was learning, and they pretty much contain everything I know so far. Now that this collection is finished, I plan to spend quite some time studying and learning new things before I try writing again. In the meantime I would gladly learn from your critical comments.

Thank you. Be sure to take a look at the pictures of my instruments on the main Renaissance Lute Page and the main Baroque Lute Page. Also, look at the pictures of the vihuela and Renaissance Guitar. They are all really beautiful instruments.
