thoughts on this cover? (country content)
I recorded this for a buddy of mine Sunday night and would be interested in your thoughts of it. It raw and untouched audio and video from a Zoom Q8. Like everything else, the better equipment you listen on, the better it sounds to me. I used the onboard X/Y mics as well as the "headphone" output from his Fishman Loudbox Performer to an input on the camera. There's other videos of covers on the channel if you're interested as well. Thanks!

Sounds great, GA.
If I'd be as bold as to offer a slight commentary, attacking the vocals and trying for a little more clarity would really make it pop, but that's just me. Keep it up, man!

Thanks for the comment BNads. Keep in mind its raw and untouched but I get what you mean. I think he sometimes goes for the Sturgill Simpson "mumble in case you forget the words" mentality. There are others on the channel if you get time to take a listen. I think he does "Fire Away" really well but I may be biased since he's a friend of mine......
Saw you are a BBS fan - they are one of my favorites! Last edited by GaBoy; 06-29-2016 at 01:06 PM. Reason: Add content |

I liked the vocals, rich and full. Would cut back on the treble on the guitar, that piezo quack was quite annoying when you strummed the higher strings.
