Default A picture we all know that no one talks about - here's the story

Recognize this picture?

It's called Bliss, and it's the default picture whenever you start up a Windows XP machine. This is actually a real picture (not photoshopped). Here's the story of how/when this picture was taken:

Don't remember seeing it before. But I'm an Apple guy.
It's a pretty non spectacular image.
The contrast on the grass is the best part of it.
Surprised this would be the image to have such infamy.
Looks like Fugi RVP to me. RVP120.
Fugi Velvia renders green and blue like no other imaging stock.
Hyper real saturation.

Cool story PPG. Thank you!

The picture out the front window of my house looks similar to that, especially when the sun is out. So we have our own bliss, particularly in the summer here in the Northwest.

Someone showed me this a few days ago and I said the same thing: Fuji Velvia. A real bias towards toward the blue and green.

I think all the PC guys like it because when all their programs crash it gives them something to look at while the guys sitting next to them on their Macs keep surfing away. Once you go Mac, you won't go back.

Perhaps there wasn't a lot of detail to the picture so the icons would stand out and not blend in. Or do the computer makers think of such things?
