Default Time to shave?

http://time.com/65375/peak-beard-men-shaving-hair/

I have been wondering about this lately.
TV, movies. magazines, the streets, etc... flooded now with men having gone days without shaving.
Talk shows, men in nice suits and ties, and their carefully scripted faces?
Isn't keeping that look just as much work as shaving everyday?
Sorta like the perfect messed up hair?
I mean, just grow a beard or get off the pot!

"Shave every day and you'll always look keen."

Any Tom Lehrer fans here?

Yes, but the song you're quoting was written by Benny Bell in the 40s, before Lehrer recorded any of his songs. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaving_Cream_(song)

Hear, hear! Lincoln has a TV ad with a spokesman sporting one of those alleged beards, and I wonder who they're trying to appeal to, because the people who can afford those cars are unlikely to be in professions where that look is acceptable at work.

Thanks for your input. I went through a brief phase of listening to Dr Demento in the early 70's (his program aired on Sunday evenings in LA)...it would be on in the background as other things were happening. I remember the song, remember that there were lots of Tom Lehrer songs on Dr Demento, and mingled the two in memory. 40 years will make some things less distinct....

Shaving sucks. It's time consuming, inconvenient, and since my hair grows in all wonky I cut easily. I've been clean shaven once in 25 years, and that was one month ago in preparation for surgery (it's all grown back now), and twice in 30 years of marriage. While I was clean shaven last month I looked so much like my father I was weirded out by it.

As for the 5 o'clock shadow style popular right now, I don't like it, but whatever, I'm no style fascist.

I'd rather shave 5 times a month than 30 times a month.

It is pretty simple, isn't it. Those of us with thicker beards and fast metabolisms have scruff by the end of the day anyway - might as well be 5-6 days

I clean up if it's appropriate but generally don't worry about it much.

I've had a moustache since my twenties. This year, it was looking a littled dated so I grew out a Van Dyke on my chin. Trimming was tough with scissors so I bought a fairly high end electric trimmer. It's adjustable and one of the settings is to take the hair down to stubble. Seemed pointless to me, if you're going to have one, don't do it in a halfassed way.

Scr3w fashion. Do what you want. Wear what you want.

However, don't curl your mustache unless you are a bare-knuckle boxer. You look like an idiot.

I have a thick beard that grows extremely quick, but I use an old school DE razor and it doesn't grow back until I'm ready for bed. I shave every day... there's maybe 10 days I don't shave all year and I actually like to shave. I hate the feeling of a 5 o'clock shadow or a beard. It doesn't feel right to me at all.
