Default Happy birthday and New (to me) Guitar Day! Martin CEO-7 (with pickup)

I am feeling very fortunate today, not only to be celebrating another year in my life but also adding another dream guitar to my collection.

A while back, I purchased a used D18. Although a wonderful guitar, I never played it much. However, I was hoping to change that by adding a pickup and making it my sole acoustic electric (I play shows typically with electric guitars, but really would prefer to play acoustics). After doing that, I realized the problem: The D18 was too big. It actually hurt to play. I never understood when other people made those comments, but totally get it now.

About two years ago, I purchased a Martin CEO-7 as well. This board’s posts on that guitar are what encouraged me and all I can say is what a dream guitar! It is amazingly comfortable and is easily one of the nicest guitars I could ask for. Fast forward to now and I am the proud owner of another CEO-7, but this one has a LR Baggs Lyric Mic. I know some may find it foolish, but I truly wanted one guitar I could take out and play at shows, and one that would be my home guitar.

I just couldn’t help but share my joy today. Thank you all, you definitely inspired the original (and in turn the second) CEO purchase.

Happy birthday! It's actually my birthday too. Hope it was a good one --- although with a second, new CEO-7, how could it be anything but great?

Since I knew I'd be traveling, I ordered my b-day present early.

The "custom" catches my interest - what did you customize?

I have been A/B-ing them with different rifts throughout the afternoon, and I really can't tell a discernible difference from a sound perspective. I will need to do a string change on both and see if I can then hear anything.

The one I just purchased is actually a little older than mine, and was definitely played on (pick marking, maybe a little buckle rash). However, it doesn't appear it "opened up" any more than mine has so far.

The one interesting thing is the difference between the sunbursts!

Happy birthday to you as well - and that is a gorgeous Eastman! I have heard wonderful things about them too!
