Default Ultrasound DI Max Stereo Preamp....argggggg

Why would Ultrasound make this preamp with the 9V DC plugin center positive? Every other pedal I have (Boss, Fishman Aura Spectrum) has the center negative, so...I can't use the power supply on my pedal board for the Ultrasound. I am no electrical engineer, I just don't get it. Ultrasound's user manual says you can use a wall wart but clearly every wall wart I have is center negative.

Hi Jimmy...
So just either power it from a 9volt battery or via 48v Phantom from the board via the XLR out.

The batteries in mine last over a year, and if I use the Phantom connection batteries are not necessary.

For our Worship team, we use phantom power via the XLR for all our acoustic preamp/DIs.

Geez, you're right and that is lame. ...I just bought an old Ultra (predecessor of the single channel Max) and really love it with my Pure Western, and luckily I chose it so I could run the 48v via XLR, but still, that's an idiot design.

If the 9v last that long, though, I guess it's not horrible.

Larry,
I know I can power with battery (phantom is out of the question because I am coming out 1/4 inch, not XLR), frankly, I just wanted to rant a little about this as it just seems kind of silly that Ultrasound would wire this thing this way.

Open up the unit and swap the power supply wiring. Ten minutes with a soldering iron and you're done. Mark the outside of the case with clear indication of the modification.

Adapter cable. I have one that came with my Godlyke power supply. It isn't hard to make, either. If you don't have soldering skills then someone at your local music store will. It is indeed inconvenient but it should not (literally) be a show-stopper.
