Default An interview with Tommy Emmanuel

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is sponsoring a show on The Guitar in American Art, which will close on March 19th.

They recently released this hour and a half interview with Tommy Emmanuel, describing his process of writing songs, creating arrangements, practice and his understanding of satisfaction. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN3wZuoI_rA

Enjoy!

Thanks! Hearing/seeing Tommy play is what got me interested in fingerstyle, before I even knew it was a style.

That was superlatively interesting and entertaining, indeed. TE explaining how his incomparable Beatles Medley instrumental "technically comes together" is especially instructive, IMOPE (in my own personal estimation); he concentrates initially on Lady Madonna as an exemplar, and then with dazzling virtuosity explodes through the Lady Madonna/Day Tripper medley.

Just a wonderful session with all you could ask for in the thought process of his composing and the nuances of his performing. Loved this!!

What can you say differently?

Can’t keep saying: ‘Wow!’.

If you want some of his ideas to rub off, wishful maybe, but perhaps a little can be gained by buying and working through his Truefire courses......

Fingerstyle Milestones

Fingerstyle Breakthroughs

Certified Gems 1

Certified Gems 2

And...listen to Chet a lot. Lenny, Jerry.....

And ...buy a custom shop Maton 808.

What else? Hope you aren’t to old to sink all that.
