Takamine model help
My son played with band last night and lead guitarist had a Tak EAN20c. It's probably an 80s model. You guys happen to know a modern equivalent? I was think a G series might work. Thanks jed

Takamine's site for this (now discontinued) model says it was a cutaway Cedar-topped Jumbo body: http://www.takamine.com/EAN20C
Takamine doesn't do a Cedar-topped Jumbo in the G-Series. Closest you can get with the would be the cutaway Cedar-topped Dreadnought body GD20CE (http://www.takamine.com/GD20CE) or the cutaway Cedar-topped NEX body GN20CE (http://www.takamine.com/GN20CE). I briefly owned a GN20CE and it was a great sounding guitar. |

http://www.takamine.com/EAN20C Sold Cedar top, Solid Mahagony back, Laminate sides and it had CT4B electrics. It is a discontinued model, but to compare to modern Takamine's the sold back and high end pickup would place it above the G series. Takamine doesn't make a Jumbo cutaway with those same specs, your closest would probably be the P1JC (laminate Sapele back and sides) or P5JC solid Indian Rosewood back, laminate sides. http://www.takamine.com/P1JC http://www.takamine.com/P5JC The "cool tube" preamps Takamine uses in their pro series are unique. If you liked what you heard from the EAN20C plugged in you aren't alone. A lot of pro players prefer Takamine for stage use. If I were you, I'd hunt down a used EAN20C.
