Question Wireless Suggestions?

I'm looking into wireless options for my acoustic. I play in a trio and I like to move around a bit on stage (no, I rarely stray off the stage), but I find myself wrapping a cable around my leg or tripping on the cable. I'm wondering about wireless options and if anyone has any suggestions. I've looked into the Line 6 stuff: the G10 has some stellar reviews but I've also heard that active electronics may interfere with it. I've also heard that the Sennheiser EW D1 unit is a good unit for the money. Any advice? Thanks!

Hi - I use a G10 - it's an excellent piece of kit - I've had no problems with interference on any of my acoustics and mandolins with active electronics. However, there is a well known problem with the transmitter and reverse polarity. In other words it doesn't work straight away with all guitars. If this is the case it can be solved by a 90 degree mono jack adapter, but to be honest this is a bit of a faff! The sound quality is excellent. Another annoying thing is that the power connector is a mini USB, and it is very poor (in my opinion) quality, I have had two breakages whilst on my pedal board, considering the cost this is very disappointing.

I've used the Audio-Technica ATW-1101/G System 10 for years and I do run around all thru the audience...it cost around 275 to $300, I like it.

I use the Sennheiser unit. Works great and has nice range. They're well made too.

Question

Thanks for the replies. Are you guys using these wireless options with a pedalboard, or just plugging straight into an amp or a PA?

My wireless is on my pedal board > Body Rez > MXR Carbon Copy > Neunaber Seraphim > one or sometimes two Loudbox Performers.

I have a Line 6 G30 and G50 -- they both work just fine. Breedlove or Martin to transmitter to PA/Aura Spectrum DI to Play Acoustic or PA. Works great, no compander artifacts, and no cables to trip over!

How would a 90 degree plug fix anything, unless you are looking at reducing strain on the plug? Makes no sense to me.

Due to the functionality of the transmitter that plugs into the guitar jack, it does not work with guitars that have reverse battery polarity, a mono male to female jack adapted solves this problem. A 90 degree one means it doesn't stick miles out of your guitar [emoji3]

I use the G10 on my pedal board with both acoustics and electrics. G10 into TC Harmony Singer > Boss TU3 > Digitech Mozaic > Nux Looper > A/B Box > A to Trace Elliot TAP 1 Preamp > MXR Little Amp Boost > Mixing Desk and B into separate pedal board for electric into Mini Tuner > TC Diva Drive > TC Corona Chorus > Marshall Reverb > TC Echo Brain > Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18.

Is the plug part of the antenna?

Why? any electronics is designed to work only on one polarity, reversing the battery, at best, would mean that the device will not work, at worst, you'll let out the puff of smoke.

Is that not called an extension cord?

Default Shure GLXD

Had one on my board for a year or so and it's the best wireless unit I've used. Small footprint and the onboard tuner is great and saves further space on the board. I still have a Carvin wireless that works well but doesn't fit on a pedalboard. I also tried the Line6 bottom tier and it fell apart in a couple of months. The Shure unit is all metal so it's durable.
