Why is Sheryl Crow not generating more attention in this thread?

I don't know if it's considered cheating if there are 20 strings but Muriel Anderson nails a beautiful song with this one.

Most of the greats have been listed here in this long thread, but there are many who very competently accompany their own vocals with very solid playing that may not be as flashy. Joan Armatrading comes to mind, especially in her day. Nancy Griffith is another whose playing really supports her songs and voice without conflict.

There is a nice profile/interview of Valerie June in the new e-edition of Premier Guitar:

Well, I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised. Katy perry...really? 3 chords and you guys say she should be included? Great guitarist thread, not great performer thread. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought this was about a great guitarist who is female. Sorry, Katy Perry falls nowhere near that. Albeit, she is a great performer...but I'm a better guitar player than her, and I think I suck! Nancy Wilson, Molly tuttle, Gretchen Menn, BR ect. ... yes indeed! Honestly, how does anybody put Katy Perry in the same class as say...Muriel Anderson? I just don't get it.
