1998 McCollum Grand Auditorium "The Tree" $old
The Music Zoo just informed me that the Collings I35 I was eyeballing just went back on the wall so I'm offering this 1998 McCollum GA with Florentine Cutaway, built by the late Lance McCollum. The guitar is in good overall shape for its age. The guitar features an Spruce top, as for which species I don't know for sure but Lance was known for his Italian Spruce with a fantastic "The Tree" back and sides. Beautiful inlays, orchids cut by Harvey Leach. Rosewood bridge/fingerboard, again I'm not sure which species of rosewood. The guitar does have a repaired/cleated crack on the top. I've had them checked out and was told the repairs are solid. There are a few of very small finish checks which aren't visible unless viewed at an angle, they're locate on the upper side of the bridge(the soundhole side) and near the orchid inlay next to the soundhole, they were tough to photograph. It is not a closet queen nor a museum piece, it has signs of honest use. You can see in the photo album that the end of the 4th & 14th fret is lifting lightly, I haven't had time to run it to a luthier yet but it is a simple fix from what my local guitar shop told me over the phone. The guitar plays and sounds amazing. It is more of a modern voiced guitar, projects very well and is very loud for a cutaway. String action is good, and there is room left on the saddle if you wish to go lower. The guitar also includes a Cedar Creek hard shell case. The guitar never had any sort of electronics installed. As amazing as they are my ears favor more of a traditional voiced guitar. I am asking $old plus shipping via paypal gift. It will be packed with care, I always use brand new boxes when I ship to ensure rigidity. I've sold numerous things on the forums as well as reverb so I can provide all of the reference to make you feel comfortable about your purchase.
