This is the only pick shape I use (50 cents each) in Thin and Medium.
I didn't vote because I have no idea which of your descriptions is this shape. |

Hey Scott I really like your idea and think I'm going to give it a shot!
Additionally I have discovered that what is considered the large triangle works best for me. Cheers... Todd in Chicago Sent from my SM-G928V using Tapatalk |

Thumb pick, but on the rare occasion I pick up a flat pick to strum its the standard shape, medium.

I played electric for several years, and always used a Fender Extra-Heavy standard teardrop.
Years later starting to play acoustic a few years ago, for some reason I didn't like the standard teardrop shape as much for it. The end seemed too pointy - not sure this wasn't an issue with electric, different style I guess. So, I tried the large triangle shape and liked it quite a bit. The slightly-rounded shape - not the very pointy perfect triangle one. My favorite now is the Fender Extra-Heavy triangle. I also have a Blue Chip TAD-40 (I think). I like it a lot for flatpicking - better than then Fenders. However, it's a bit stiff for strumming, so I generally prefer the Fender overall. Plus they're cheap and easy to find. Jason

Dunlop Gator 2mm and I use it backward. Rounded edges for string contact.

I guess I currently use what might be called a disfigured 351.
And I also use a conventional 351 shape on occasion. |

HHP, yes, I call that an "offset" tip, but the same idea.

I answered "standard teardrop" but what I really play is a CL Red that I slightly modify to have a slightly more pointed "speed" tip with a slight bevel (the pick is thin to begin with, so beveling is not really needed). To me, the result is wonderful feel, little pick noise, focused but still sparkly tone, and excellent articulation and speed. I use sharper (speed, shredding) points when I play electric, but on acoustic I find that a sharper point creates a really harsh tone and more noise, too. So: modified teardrop. Thanks, CL, for making such great picks.

Oh no: my apologies. I bungled voting in the poll. I ticked 'large triangle' and then afterwards realised there were two 'large triangle' options. Actually I nearly always use the rounded corners sort, but I ticked the other, which I hardly ever use. I'm aware that this will completely mess up the sophisticated statistical analysis of the results that lies ahead, and take full responsibility for my incompetence.
Memo to self: "Always read the whole question before starting to answer".

I don't have the sophisticated palate of most of you; once I used a Gibson triangle (Medium) it's ben my go-to, but I have a ceramic box my first wife made me full of all types of budget brands...and a small jar of about 50 Fender Medium teardrop style... |
