Question Shape question...

I'm looking at C-A-G-E-D shapes and can't see why they are named those shapes.
I was expecting to see a C on C shape and so on...

those grids don't make it easy to see the relationship to what you're familiar with, at least to my eyes they do not.

Mystery, that diagram you linked to is wacked, try looking at:

Those are minor pentatonic patterns, not the clearest to see the "CAGED" if you're thinking about major chords...

Ah I see.
Only looking at the notes that make the chord makes it easier to visualize.
Need to get my head in the theory more.

If you're working with minor scales it's a good idea to use minor chords to help visualize the scale.
