Default Lay Your Brother Down

My thousandth post on AGF seems befitting to post this song of mine that's very dear to me, Lay Your Brother Down. I'm trying less busy strumming as influenced by Silly Moustache's lessons. Would be most grateful for your feedback.

Loved it. Touching song and well performed. Your guitar sounds great and the simplified strumming suits the song well. I struggle with trying the less is more approach with my strumming, so this was a good reminder for me. Now I need to find SillyM’s videos.

Thanks very much, it means a great deal to me that you enjoyed my song.

Here’s Silly Moustache’s cover from a while back.

Good song.

To my ears, when a guitar is used to accompany a singer, less is often better. As Andy showed, you don't have to play the entire chord nor strum every beat - a note here or there to fill in under the voice is often all that is needed.

Exactly! ^^^
You can see/hear that Andy's guitar work is actually a part of the story in the way he handles things with fills and little notes. This is a great example IMO, of how to handle something like this.

I'm grateful to Andy for his cover and am trying to work towards something on the same level. I know I'm not quite there yet but I'm getting closer. Here's how I previously played the song by comparison - I think I have improved on this.
