On a side note it was gratifying to see Zac Rinaldo get handed an 8 game suspension for his cheap hit on Chris Letang. Maybe the $73K he will lose as a result will give him second thoughts about doing something like that again.
I think Rinaldo should have gotten more (10-15). That was a clear attempt to injure. They need to get that stuff out of the game. I'm a Penguins fan and felt the same way about Matt Cooke when he was on our team. Come down hard on these guys.

Lace 'em up ... that should be this thread's motto

How about the Kings putting Richards on waivers? Hard to believe how much he's lost over the past couple of years and he still has a big contract. Wondering if the Maple Leafs would take a chance with him and get rid of Kessel.

I agree he should have gotten more than 8 games but the NHL seems to be (IMO) overly tolerant of this kind of behavior. Quite frankly I was concerned he'd get less than 8 games. In fact I believe he would have gotten less than 8 if he hadn't made the comments he did after the game.

Good point Catdaddy.

Kris Letang had 5 assists tonight. Pens win 5-3 over the Jets.

Without either Crosby or Malkin! I was impressed. Great team effort.

Tonight we get the Caps.

Tomorrow night is "Bag Night" at the Air Canada Center. Perhaps they'll send some to the Oilers for their fans too

I was there. Looked like Joe Louis South. LOL. Sorry to disappoint so many. Datsuyk got one, then Callahan was all over him. I saw Brian Boyle drop him once. It got a little physical. Pauquette gets his first hat trick. Another rookie.

I was happy to see Tampa stand in there.

Especially after laying one in Carolina the other night.

Edit: It was Helm that scored for Detroit, not Datsuyk. 43 not 13. I just saw the 3 from the other end of the ice. I wondered why they would just let Datsuyk float out in front by himself untouched. They didn't.

Hmm...go figure, the players are accused of 'throwing the rest of the season' they get mad and win??

Hockey players have some funny buttons. As a coach if you push the right one at the right time you're a genius! This stretch run to the playoffs is a great time to follow the sport. Teams that looked great to start the season may start to fade and teams that no one thought were any good may start to get it together. I figure the Lightning to be a team not likely to fade but to go into the playoffs as one of the favorites from the Eastern Conference.
