I'm terrified of space travel but I would go there tomorrow to record a few things on Mars.
Then go to say Arizona to compare.
Creating music in space is an interesting idea.

Gotta be careful about what YT content providers mention , my guess is all ya need is a medium for the vibration

For guitar however you might want to bring an amp

Probably more so with earphones clamped to the skull than via fingertips and/or eardrums, vibrations might convey something tangible and physical in the absence of airborne sound. Then, given a couple thousand generations, we would surely evolve and adapt. Beach Boys might even weigh in with something relevant.

The video was accurate enough I guess.
They said more like "in a vacuum no sound."

95% CO2 is still an atmosphere.

I recall reading a science fiction story in my youth, about a project where earth was sending specially developed bacteria to Mars, that would convert the CO2 to O2, as our plant life does here.

The tone won't be good, but you'll be dead within 30 seconds. So, there's that.

Unfortunately, it's about more than oxygen. The Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field thanks to our rotation and the (mostly) iron core. Without that magnetic field, we'd all be fried instantly. In fact, without our magnetic field it is speculated that Earth would quickly look much like Mars does today.

So, electric guitars and amps might work better there. Good luck finding any outlets to plug into, though.

There is sound on the Martian surface, and here’s some recordings. (The definition of sound requires pressure waves, not electrical signals.) So yeah, you’d hear your guitar licks how you’ve never heard them before, in the minute or two before you stop breathing because you took your helmet off for a better listen…

https://www.nasa.gov/solar-system/wh...al-about-mars/

And some of their notes:

“The result of the recordings: a new understanding of strange characteristics of the Martian atmosphere, where the speed of sound is slower than on Earth – and varies with pitch (or frequency). On Earth, sounds typically travel at 767 mph (343 meters per second). But on Mars, low-pitched sounds travel at about 537 mph (240 meters per second), while higher-pitched sounds move at 559 mph (250 meters per second).

The variable sound speeds on the Red Planet are an effect of the thin, cold, carbon dioxide atmosphere. Prior to the mission, scientists expected Mars’ atmosphere would influence sound speed, but the phenomenon had never been observed until these recordings were made. Another effect of this thin atmosphere: Sounds carry only a short distance, and higher-pitched tones carry hardly at all. On Earth, sound might drop off after about 213 feet (65 meters); on Mars, it falters at just 26 feet (8 meters), with high-pitched sounds being lost completely at that distance.”

First - no one is going to Mars.
Second - if they did, no sound would be possible with an acoustic guitar. Stay on Earth and play your guitars.

Maybe off topic a bit but it's already been done on the space station---not quite Mars, but cool nonetheless

I'm glad you cleared that up.

Ah makes sense but then again the atmosphere on mars is not a vacuum, so there is that.

What would my guitar sound like there?
Just take your guitar to New Delhi, or maybe Beijing, in the summer. The air quality looks to be about the same.
It would be a lot cheaper! And you could take in some of the sights.
