I was able to play a 426ce at Rocket music in Brea CA. The tone of it was very unique. It was a very tight sounded guitar, defiantly different tone than the 424ce from last year.

I'm a little jealous, I wish my '07 424ce SL had an abalone rosette.

I played one yesterday. It has a bigger sound and projects well compared to the 414 ce series. It has a GS body shape. Very attractive top but I don't like satin finishes on guitars. It still bothers me why Taylors offer only satin B/S on the 300 and 400 models. For their price it should be an all gloss body. I don't mind paying extra 50 to 100 bucks to have them gloss in their factory. If there is an option? Instead of me buffing the guitar to make it shine. In the end,we try to like them by default. Sorry if went out of topic a little bit.
Verdict: I will buy it, if it's all gloss body. |

While it is not an option from Taylor to have it gloss finished, you could always have it glossed by an authorized Taylor refinisher or me. I use the same polyester finish that Taylor does I just don't UV cure. UV doesn't make it any better it is just faster. Taylor can't afford to wait overnight for a finish to chemical cure but I can.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'll keep that in mind. By the way, are you far away from frenchlick. Two of my in-laws lived there. I'll send you a pm if they give me a good price on the guitar. Thanks again.

Hey all, I picked up a 426ce last weekend but didn't have time to play with it too much yet. Just took some photos today, thought I'd share with you all. The store I went to had a fresh delivery of 416, 426, 516, 616, and 716s and to my ears the 426's tone stood out above the rest. Totally different than the 416 they had in store. Check it out!

I'd prefer all gloss or all satin to the gloss/satin combo on that guitar.

Zephyroth,
I just ordered a 416 ce yesterday. What's the difference? I played a 416 and liked it. I play primarily rhythm guitar at church play along with singing. |

I also considered the 426 against the 616, again, more overtones, mid range, and overall a sweeter tone to my ears. It's very likely that the guitar store had a exceptionally lifeless 416 next to an exceptionally sweet sounding 426... I'm pretty convinced the same model of guitar can vary lots |
