Anybody load up the new Apple IOS 8.0 on your iPhone yet?
Wanted to load it up on mine but I don't have enough gig space left on my phone. Just wondered if anybody loaded it up and took it for attest drive yet.

Yosemite is an OS for a computer not a phone.

I think he is referring to IOS 8.0
First open the App Store app on your iphone or ipad. Then select the updates icon on the bottom right on the screen. Next select "update all" on the top left corner. The apps will update one by one. This can take a while. Once they are all updated, open settings (the big gear) Select general (same gear icon), then select "software update", which is the second item (starting from the top) on the right side. The gear will spin for a while, then you will see IOS 8.0. Select "download and update", and follow the instructions. I'm just about to update. Will let you know how it works. There are many new features. If you use the IOS iPhoto app a lot, or need to share files with a MacBook or iMac, you may want to wait until Yosemite is released, before you update to IOS 8 In the update, your photos and metadata from iPhoto will be migrated to Photos. Books, Journals and Slideshows will be converted to albums containing only photos. iPhoto for iOS is not supported on devices running iOS 8 or later. I think the new IOS 8.0 Photos app is replacing iPhoto for IOS 7.

I found this useful: Seven privacy settings you should change immediately in iOS 8 (ZDNet).

Well, I have been downloading it, this morning, and my advice is to be able to plug it into your computer, for Itunes...it's not going to work, until I do plug it in...(unfortuneately, I'm at work, and without a lightning cable to connect it to anything!)

Thanks for the privacy settings link, too.
Am enjoying IOS 8 so far, especially the predictive typing feature that's replaced autocorrect. That's been a very nice feature on my Android phone, and I'm glad to have it on my iPad in the new IOS.

I've ran into a few issue with ios8, one being losing the ability to enter any text into my banks website such as username. There are a few other sites I've had some troubles with as well. I'm sure I will come across others as I travel the web. Not sure I like the predictive text option yet that appears when you are typing in a form surfy as this.
As far as the cloud docs, you can select not to use it ye and it gives you a warning that doing so will make your items NA on your Mac until Yosemite is avail. |

Going to wait till my site-specific mobile apps (banks, news, taxi services, etc.) are updated to run it natively. Meanwhile, the Apple Stores will have the new iPhone 6 & 6 Plus on hand tomorrow to try out; am staying across the street from Fashion Show mall in Vegas and see which one is easier to operate. Then I will pick one to replace the old Samsung Galaxy S3 I've been using (more precisely, ignoring) for my Sprint account. That way I'll have something for internet-only radio apps in my car, on an unlimited data plan, and will be able to use Apple Pay (which most of my credit and both my debit cards now support). I will see how well iOS8 works there before I update both my AT&T iPhone 5S and my iPad Mini from 7 to 8. (The Apple Store tech said they'd work fine--though the NYT warns that for iPhone 4S and 2nd gen iPads, 8 slows them to a crawl. But my v. 3 iPad is still running 6, and my original iPad and Bpb's 4S are still running 5 (those iPads are basically my bathroom reading library and kitchen cookbooks).

I put it on my 4S (yes, I still have THAT old model) in about 20 minutes (via my computer). It only took another .3GB of memory, which I was glad of.
My first "I like it" moment was double tapping the home button and getting the Favorites and Recents from my phone book across the top of the screen. More e-Mail management tools with different swipes too. SFSG. |

At this point I've lost count on how many, and 8.1 came out yesterday. It's working fine for me, same for all my users.
The 8.1 update lets those with new phones do the new mobile payment system. The 10.10. or "Yosemite" desktop upgrade that came out last week with the mobile are really nice together. I love the handoff features. I have both the phone and desktop upgrades on new and older hardware and they're working fine. There are some limitations. The Health app for mobile does more if your phone is a 5S or 6. Some of the mobile to desktop integration requires a late model desktop computer. My octogenarian mother did the upgrades and just got her new phone. That an octogenarian who didn't have a phone early in life has this figured out is pretty neat stuff.

Unfortunately I'm seeing that cuts off some app updates.
For a while I was thinking the newer versions really slowed down older phones but am less sure after just updating a hand full. I always have a cold spare and just sold my 5 spare and updated and loaded my stuff on a 4S. It really performs about the same and it's using it next to a 5 or 6 that makes it seem slow. I would miss the "recents" feature in addition to the compatibility issue. The way people use their phones really varies so I totally get how some boast the way they can't live without the latest while others boast their affiliation with Luddites.
