Default Air Bag Recall - Check For Yours

Saw on the news last night the story about these defective air bags that spew freaking SHRAPNEL at you when they deploy. Four people killed and scores seriously injured. What the heck is so difficult in this day and age about making a safe and reliable air bag? For cryin' out loud. Anyway, in case you missed it, here's the website from the National Highway Safety Administration listing the years and models involved. 7.8 MILLION vehicles involved in this recall. They urge you to get your vehicle in asap. It's that bad.

Wow, thanks! Close for us with both cars, but our particular years apparently unaffected.

Nothing for my F350 Crew Cab. Besides I have a fat lady that falls out of the visor and cushions the hit.

Appreciate you making this available, Wadcutter! Might help some of us avoid injury or worse.

Wow, over 5 million of the recalled cars are Hondas (out of 7.8 million total). Including my 2003 CR-V.

Of all the things we have to worry about in life, your own airbag fragging you or a loved one shouldn't be one of them.

Interesting news in WSJ (Wall St. Journal) this AM where it's not just the Takata OEM product but now European cars for software reasons.

In a tie to the MSFT executive salary post elsewhere on this site, the article also said Honda execs had a pay cut that's a Japanese tradition. Another pointed out Microsoft having a good quarter when the competition didn't.

I'm surprised some here and in my Facebook feed are not critical of this total nanny state scenario. We've got the government sticking their nose in the business of car makers and drivers. Is this really a problem if we do the math? 5 - 10 million cars as a percentage of our population? What about freedom? Would we even need airbags if we were all on horses, using private railroads or bicycles and not slaves to using local, state and federal highways? :P
