Oh well, it is day one of my vacation and is much too cold to ride the Goldwing. I will go to plan B which is to take care of some firewood needs. Have a good and safe day everyone.

Perfect strap, Candy!

Tom, enjoy your bike ride. Not too many days left in the biking season.

Quiet conversation with my older friend yesterday about wood/coal burners. She has one that she used only a few times when her husband was alive.

She wants to sell it. I hope to be able to help her get rid of it.

Ready to buy it Mary, or are you helping to find a buyer?

Sure would buy it if it was once I could use. Just trying to help her ind a buyer. Hers is big! We would be wearing shorts and going barefoot in the -30 degree weather if we had her wood burner here.

Hey! That's not such a bad idea.

The fireplace I have in my rec room is a propane fireplace. In the winter I'll put it on for an hour on a Sat and Sun to heat up the room and then let the electric take over.

Utility rates are rumored to be going up down in these parts. Well, actually a letter was sent to some power company customers warning them of an increase in their electric bills this winter. By using wood from fallen trees in our woods, we cut down on our electric usage quite a bit. My wife has talked for a few years about us putting in a propane heater in the fireplace. She keeps saying something like we are getting older. I think she is referring to me though as she is always celebrating her 29th birthday.

Very little heating going on around here, maybe a bit further inland. Many modern homes here are build for air-con rather than breeze, lucky ours is old so no air-con the, pool probably costs a bit in electricity though.

Water in our pool has been known to freeze a time or two during the winter months. It is very refreshing during a hot summer day though.

Xcept that I don't like the cold, one of the reasons I'm not looking forward to winter. And the high heating costs too.

We're almost at 300 posts.

You don't like the cold and I love it! LOL I had a lot of fun installing our wood stove in New Mexico.

Zero degrees is not what I consider cold, Tina. It's the -40F / C wind chill that is cold up here in the north!

NM sounds nice right about now.

Aha! Now I get it!
When I lived in NM, the coldest I experienced was -17F...it was a very dry kind of cold.
