That sucks for sure, but it could be SO much worse.

For perspective: Imagine lying in a hospital bed with the whole left side of your body suddenly paralyzed, wondering if you will ever play guitar again (or walk, or be able to work) while your neurosurgeon has no explanation because he got all the brain tumor out. Yikes!

A quote I read this week comes to mind.
"If you woke up healthy this morning then you're doing better than the million people who will die this week."

If you write you could try to create a piece of music that doesn't require that finger, I did this when I had surgery on the index finger of my fretting hand. It saved me from going crazy while the area healed.

I was going to reply the other day right after I got my right middle finger stuck between two crow bars while ripping up my kitchen floor. Then I figured a bloody, throbbing finger doesn't compare to a broken finger. The next day, I got my left middle finger jammed between two sections of counter top resulting in another bloody throbbing finger. Today at my guitar building class, while sanding a guitar part on a spindle sander, I took off much of the outer skin and nail of my right thumb. I play finger style guitar and have a lesson tomorrow at 4 pm. I guess you can imagine I won't be too ready for that. At least I didn't brake anything-yet. I hope you heal soon.

That stinks! I was sidelined too with a broken middle finger on my picking hand. But you'll heal up and be playing better than ever before too long. In the meantime...make a list of all the new songs you wanna learn. Hope you mend quickly. All the best!

It`l heal but just takes Time. Good friend of mine cut his left hand ring finger off on a saw and he had it reattached but it was a little bit crooked. He learned how to make do and he still played Very Well!. Always hope as I saw a guy with NO arms and played Great Music with his feet!!!. Amazing!.

Sounds like you didn't see page 2... OR were you referring to this?

Either way, it's amazing enough to see another look.

That sucks - hard. I broke my left wrist in three places (three years ago) after an argument with a ladder. You'll be back before you know it. Hang in there.
