There's definitely a latency issue to consider with this test.
I did it on my 13 year old PC and the best I could
score was 660 and I did it a bunch of times.

I went home and took the test on my 7 year old
laptop and the first score I got was 860.
They should have some sort of calibration test
prior to running the program.

It's a fun test and with latency, probably no one can get 1000 points. But you can still test yourself against others in your family, for instance, on the same machine and it will give you a relative comparison (pun intended.)

I didn't find it taking over my machine at all, but it does grab a pile of CPU time while you run it. My fans started to blow harder--but that happens when I'm on pages run by some sort of background Java app from time to time. Close the page and it's gone.

I tried this several times. If my spacebar didn't do a weird off-beat (up-stroke) click I think I would do much better. It's a pretty neat little game(?) despite the lack of accuracy. Try doing 8th or 16 notes while only hitting the spacebar on the beat

Cool site. I wonder how it measures the score though. Does it measure relative to the track that fades or your rhythm in the first five seconds? There could be a latency issue between the track and the press of the key.

Try a different key.

I would've done better had it been my favorite tempo.

I got 892 on 2nd try - and then got gradually worse....

(I'm on an old Vista PC. Not sure if latency is an issue, because my results are sometimes late, sometimes early, roughly equally. Surely latency would mean they'd all be late - or all early? In fact, I think I'm pleased with my result for that reason. If I interpret the results right, I'm holding the tempo on average, even if each hit is a little early or late, almost alternately. I'm not a machine!)
