NGD + String Advice Needed
Just bought my first "new" guitar! I've always bought used, but today I decided to splurge for a J-45 Standard in sunburst. It sounds awesome! This will be my life partner guitar.
I got some Elixer Nanoweb 12's thrown in with the purchase to replace the old dead strings on it, and I put them on tonight and played for about an hour. They sound good, but I'd love some input from the J-45 owners on what makes these babies sing! Thanks in advance! |

I always preferred 13s on my J-45. But then again I liked it "thumpy".
DR Sunbeams would work great on that new toy of yours.

It's also worth noting that to me (and others according to old threads) that Elixirs begin to sound their best after a few days of play-in. I find them (the 80/20 version, at least) a little on the bright side for the first two days, and after about a week they hit their sweet spot, which then holds nicely for several more weeks.
Other than that, it's always worth trying a set of D'Addario EJ16s on any guitar. JD

Just put a set of Pearse New Mediums on my Martin Dread took a few days but they sound great. Only used Elixirs (Mediums) prior but I have to give the Pearse's the edge based on sound and playibilty.
