A Tribute To Free Form Radio.....
A tribute to the late, great KDKB Mesa/Phoenix Free Form, open format radio of the early/mid 70's.

Hey Murphy, is that an original? Very cool tune. Nice slide work, great performance. And, I like the setting - cool

Loved the song, guitar playing and vocals. I've always thought of trying the slide.

The setting is my hunting cabin in the middle of the woods. No electricity, so just the iPad and a guitar. That's why I was surprised to hear the sirens at the end of the song, they were well over a mile away.... Free Form / open format Radio was very common in the early 70's and I wonder, with the internet changing so many things, if the value of Radio will change in the future as well...... ? Thanks to all for the kind words. |

Murph, that was so cool to hear about KDKB. I moved to Phx in early '70's, and that was the only station I listened to for many decades.
In fact I 'm looking at a KDKB license plate up on my wall right now!. |

They sold and fired the entire original staff around 1977 and changed the format, but it actually got BIGGER after that. I left the Valley in '82 just after the "Storm" followed in the "Free Form" footsteps, and I think Jeff Parets (the Acoustic Storm) and Andy Olson (who now runs Radio Free Phoenix) had a pretty good run.

A+ brother.
Your chops are just so natural. one can easily tell you were powering out licks to Allman Brothers tunes in your past. Maybe The Delaware Destroyer too... What a treat. And yeah I need your cabin.
