Well played. You pay some of the descending scales slower than usual. Was that a personal decision? You seem to have the skill to play it quicker if you wished to.

Yes
Though I'm not absolutely sure which part you are talking about, I listened to several versions and decided how I wanted to play it. I think that this piece sometimes sounds rushed and that the middle section is often played way out of tempo with the ascending arpeggios not played very clearly. I tried to play it the way I wanted it to sound and, overall at this point, I'm fairly happy with the way it sounds.

I believe the part I mentioned starts at measure 38 (measures are not marked in my music), middle E to low E following the fermata B chord. After looking at the music, it seems that you played it on tempo. A lot of players choose to play that very quickly.

I thought he did a good job with that. There are key places in #1 with "rall." (rallentando) and similar markings by Villa-Lobos, yet for some reason, lots of people like to do the opposite there and speed up. I suppose to each his own, but most times the composer has it right! Good job Dean!

Perhaps off the topic, but...
Thanks for the performance and, also for the discussion regarding your interpretation. As a 98% steel-stringer, the points raised are of a sort I don't often hear in my circles. Your observations will inform my playing generally, and incline me to adjust my percentage considerably.

nice playing and nice to hear that you are playing with your interpretation of the piece. Always best to make it your own (imo) as a listener always can pick up on that whether they play an instrument or not.
