Set-Up: How Often?

I tried searching for this but could not find anything.

Anyway, here's my question for any and all luthiers and guitar techs. I hope it makes sense. Please feel free to refine my questions as you deem best.

Assuming both scenarios noted below, how often should an acoustic guitar need a professional set-up?


Gigging musician who plays his guitar all the time.
Amateur who plays in his house for about 5 hours/week?

Hey, Strings.

A setup should be good until you change string gauge, climate, or preferences. They don't go bad with time or playing.
