Roland Jazz Chorus 40 amp Question
Anyone tested out the Roland Jazz Chorus 40 guitar amp. Its getting great reviews from electric players, not so much from acoustic players. Just wondering how it might do for an archtop electric.

If it has magnetic pickups, then it should work great. The Jazz Chorus is one of the most iconic clean electric tones out there. I sat in with a band and play through a JC-40 for a few songs once, and I found it to be dreamy. The true stereo config can be really cool to play with, as well.

I have one. I like it a lot. It is far louder than its size and wattage might indicate. It is a clean amp. The "built-in" distortion knob isn't horrible but not worth much. I haven't been dissatisfied with low-gain drive via pedal. I wouldn't recommend it as an acoustic amp, but it will do any electric pickup very well and arch top pretty much perfect.
Having one, however, did not stop me from later buying a Henriksen Bud. I like them both. The Bud crosses over from acoustic to clean electric really well in my opinion. I haven't liked any overdriven tones from the Bud, however.

Here's a song by the McMains Bros from the internet radio show I mix. Mick McMains is playing an Ibanez electric archtop through a JC40. He ran it dry, no chorus or reverb. Anything added is me, not him.
