Glad it is paying off!
I'm sure it was all of the above. Since I have no patience, luthiers continually amaze me.

Shouldn't need any super soft to bend this as it is flat sawn. Birdseye only shows when sawn flat or plain. When cut on the quarter it appears as a irregular loose curl prone to chipping out. Flat sawn woods usually bend with greater ease than quartered. I have never had any trouble bending birdseye.

Didn't think of that, but didn't end up using any either.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I asked at a local wood shop and they said it was flat-sawn maple that had micro burls on the trunk, which led to the burly figure. But I think they were just guessing like the rest of us!!!

Here it is after the first few coats of finish! Can't wait to finish putting on the last couple and buff it up to a nice shine!!!

Also, I have had two people take me up on my BUILD FOR COST Nutmeg acoustics start-up offer! That means there are still three people out there who will get a fully custom build priced at cost!!!
Will one of them be you?
Send me a message if you're interested!!!

Beautiful guitar and really nice maple, love it under finish. I've always been fond of maple.
