Default Been a while

Its been a while since I updated this thread, but I haven't had much time to work, and as a result not much has transpired.

The sides are now bent as well as the binding.

and the back has been glued up and profiled.

Here are some pics...

That is going to be a beautiful guitar. Like the binding with the sides. Any problem bending them?

Thanks, and no not really, just glad it's not a cutaway, that would be hairy with the burls.

Yeah me too, it looks even nicer with some spirits on it! But I'll save that for a little...

Default More progress today!!!

So I went ahead and decided to glue the kerfing to the top tonight.

I used port orford cedar reverse kerfing for the top.

I only had enough clamps to do 1 side at a time so that's why only one side has clamps on it.

NOTE I hadn't really cleaned up the glue yet when I took these pics so don't be too hateful...

Anyway, here are some pics!

Default Back getting Braced

I glued the back braces on today.

I partially shaped the braces, so there's less work later...
I also radiused the rim, and tomorrow will try to work on the top. Joining, thicknessing and rosette!!!

It's looking great, really nice work

The bindings will make a nice contrast to that birdseye Maple when it's finished... bet the Port Orford Cedar made the shop smell good as well I had an Eggle with a POC top that had the most amazing smell when you opened the case - like a lemon grove!

Thanks!

To give you a better idea of what it will look like, here's a pic with some mineral spirits, and the planned rosette!!!

This picture doesn't show it but it has some minor quilt on the back too!

Default Top Bracing pattern

I'm going to go with a double x brace style top bracing pattern.

Here's the layout:

Interesting layout. Where do the bridgeplate and the bridge fall on this design? How far in from the rim does the neck block protrude? Perhaps the transverse and tongue braces will sit a bit further south than the picture shows?

It should go about like this. I was planning on trimming the bridge plate though.
