Default Interesting Maple and Spruce Build thread

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the luthier world (only a couple builds under the belt) But I came across this set of maple b/s that looked extremely interesting, I'd never seen anything like it so I bought them and decided to start the build today.
It will be a martin style dreadnought
I was planning on pairing the set with a spruce top that matches the color as close as possible, not quite sure whay species yet, and keeping it with a natural finish with rosewood bindings and rosette, rosewood fret board as the rosewood I have matches the darks in the wood quite well...

Will try to update with pics as I go...

What do you guys think?

I think the rosewood would give you a great contrast to the maple. Looks like a beautiful set of back and side woods--looking forward to seeing your build!

You won't glue the back together like that will you?

Very unusual maple which must have come from the same place as this:

In the above thread, if you go down to picture #8 you will see a bottle of Super-Soft. It might be prudent to pick up a bottle before you try bending the sides. Oh yeah, nice set, wish you all the luck.

Very interesting figure. Is it bird's eye that has begun to spalt around the eyes? Or just spalting around bug bores?

If it's bird's eye, be VERY careful about cutting through any of them. They will tear out on you.....

I'm really not sure what to call it as they all are full not holey, might just be spalting but not sure...

It's almost ambrosia-esq with giant birdseyes. I'm sure it will make a beautiful instrument.

In the photo, the sides are book-matched, but the back isn't. One half is upside down.
