I hate the multicolor. I wouldn't even mind if it was a crazy color as long as all the ball ends were the same crazy color. My Honey Dipper came with these and the tail piece is one where you can see the ball ends so it looks like my guitar has a gay rights bumper sticker. Looks dumb...

Of course the real question - and no doubt this will cause quite a bit of controversy - is which color produces the best overall tone.

i wonder if the silver and gold/brass ends are made out of different material, or if one of those is coloured?

If I recall correctly (by no means guaranteed), they're different metals. There was a time when, in desperation, I'd cut the little spools off of guitar strings so that the strings could be used on octave mandolin and the like. I'm pretty sure the color was uniform all the way through. But as I said, no memory guarantees.
