Yes.... that one I bought (and shown in the photo) is a modern Washburn.

The Alvarez AP70 is much closer to the sound of my guitar.
Are we really going to compare a real 1889 grand concert to my indonesian made $200 repro? I don't know if mine is good, and if I was lucky. It does the job. It was cheap. It looks great. It doesn't stack up favorably to my Larrivees and Nationals. But I don't expect it to.

Maybe I'm being unfair, but you said, "No offense to anyone who didn't like one they tried but they are exactly what they are supposed to be, and sound like they are supposed to sound. They are a turn of the century reproduction"
They are a poor reproduction, in my opinion. That's all I'm saying. The Alvarez gets much much closer to the sound of my Washburn.

Poor reproduction? They are a sub $500 reproduction. If you shop a little they are a sub $300 reproduction. I realize you must like the Yairi aesthetic, but to those who want something that looks like an old parlor, that bridge on the alvarez is a non-starter. It's not a reproduction at all.

Again no offense, but your expectations are a tad high.

Here's a Washburn copy of a 1937 Washburn.

Maybe the label and the stamp in the back strip will convince you that it is a Washburn.

I also prefer the look of the old parlors, and I really don't care for the look of the Alvarez bridge. But the sound of the Alvarez is much closer to the old parlors than the new Washburn I played. Maybe it was a dud, I'll have to sample more of them. To me, sound is more important than looks.

Now the tuners are some of the worst I have ever seen but still hold tuning.

If you want a small parlor for that sound, it's a decent option if you don't overpay.

Strongly suggest that you look into an Eastman new or used if you are married to that vintage parlor aesthetic:

Anyone try the Loar small bodies guitars yet? I tried the LH 200 today and the RK ROS06. Both seemed nice but the RK I think blew away the Loar in volume. Didn't have much time with the Loar because the store was closing but what little time I think the neck was a little small for me, plus the Wife was with me so I couldn't but anyway, but I'm GASing for a Parlor body. I did own a RK ROS06 a few years ago, didn't stay long with me because my Brother wanted it, so off it went.

Now, where were we... oh yes.... it was a horrible little box with a very thin boxy sound. I had great hopes for it as a parlor guitar when I bought it. But it really just wasn't for me.

I kinda like this parlor. Just can't figure why? Could be a Washburn too.
