Default Electric Guitar Forum

Is there an online forum the deals primarily with electric guitars and related subject matter?

I've googled "electric guitar forum", but I didn't see anything in the results similar to what the acoustic guitar or basstalk forums offers.

Thanks =)

Try googling "The Telecaster Guitar Forum"

I've seen forums for plenty of brands of guitar. I haven't seen one just dealing with all types of electrics like this forum does with acoustics. Do you have a specific brand you are looking to find on a forum?

Hi Gab, Welcome to the AGF. There are a few great electric guitar / amp forums out there. Here are just a few:

There are also dedicated Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat, Marshall Amp forums out there too. Are you looking for anything specific?

The gear Page is very popular with lots of visitors.

Ultimate Guitar Forum is very similar but not a fan of the forum design.

There are specific forums for almost all brands. PRS has their own, Gibson has their own.

For everything under 1 roof, I prefer TGP since people in a forum that is label as such has more fans for that particular guitar and generally they would sway you towards that brand or suggests guitars of that brand than anything else. You still get the fan boys out in TGP but you also get more neutral feedback as well.

In a slightly different vein, there's http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/ which is not only about seven string guitars.

Another vote for the Gear Page! That was where I heard about this site...

Good information on there, but the folks are not nearly as nice, in my experience. Just don't expect a "group hug" every time you log on and post and you'll be fine! There are some quite accomplished players on there, as well as a whole bunch of knowledgeable "gear heads"... and, of course, a large assortment of folks who either don't play very well or just stick to their bedrooms/living rooms, and have little or no "real world" experience with playing live on stage...

TGP is a good forum, but like anything YMMV! There are a few snarky ones and some egos to contend with over there and they're not nearly as well behaved as the good folks on this forum. Some big names check in occasionally and many are 'working' players that seem a little impatient with some of us bedroom/basement players, but there is a wealth of info if you can harden your hide a little

I used to frequent many guitar forums a few years ago. Now, I'm down to the Telecaster Discussion Page.

The Les Paul Forum is a great place if you are into Gibson electrics, though of course they have a specific focus. Lots of institutional knowledge about Gibson guitars, and generally, they are nice guys. Just search old threads before asking a question. It doesn't usually get too snarky ... usually.

It is NOT an official Gibson site.

NOT to be confused with the "My Les Paul Forum".

TDPRI has an active amp-building section I keep an eye on. AGF kind of feels like home though. Not so big for electric guitars but it's a friendly forum.

And an active electric guitar building section. The guitar building section of sevenstring looks pretty active too but they mostly go for quite modern styles.
