Just beautiful Glenn. This creates a world of reverie and peace that is music at its best. Thanks for sharing this.

I'm about a 2 to 3 days (maybe a week) away from a decent show and tell version of that one myself. I'd like to hear your version Glenn. It's interesting to see different interpretations of music. I'm Mr. Plain Vanilla as I try to stick to the original at first.

I've been playing along with a youtuber playing it on his Martin and I realized that he plays it a tad faster than Al does..... I'm going with Al's tempo,

Thank you Rich,

Thank you for your thoughts and the kind words. Maybe it's the reverie that this song creates that drew me to it right from the beginning.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Rich!

Hi Bob,

I'm so glad you liked this piece. I wish I could take credit for writing such a beautiful piece, but at the very least, I'm honored to be able to play it. Thanks so much for your thoughts!

Hi Barry,

My tempo in playing Sligo Creek always tends to be a little faster than Al Petteway's version, too. This is a tough song to do well and to keep a steady beat. Maybe that's why Al Petteway originally used those bongo drums with his recording, to help him maintain a steady beat. However, I have heard him do a very good job of playing Sligo Creek live, too, with just him and his guitar.

I need to go back and figure out what I am doing that's different from Al's version. I really like what he does and I'm not quite there for some reason.

- Glenn

Really nice! You have a nice feel to it. Soothing is the correct word, I think =P

Wonderful, Glenn...enjoyed your cover. My only complaint: just when I believe I'm over my GAS attack for a Santa Cruz guitar, you pull me back in!

Hi Rick,

Thank you! It is a soothing song, but that's probably due much more to Al Petteway's composition than to my playing. But I'm glad you feel that I did the song justice.

I appreciate your thoughts!

Hi OldGuitarGuy,

Thank you! I am an old guitar guy, too! I very much appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment!

For instrumental playing, that Santa Cruz FS is a very nice guitar, though believe me, I was not trying to tempt you with another guitar!

Thanks,
Glenn

Beautifully expressive playing and interpretation of a beautiful song! One of the many things I enjoy about your recordings, Glenn, is listening to the variety of great guitars which you own.

Each guitar certainly adds its own "flavor", and choosing the right one for a given piece of music can turn a very good recording into a great one. Wonderful job here Glenn!
