Default Strat vs Les Paul

It's hard to for me to choose between these iconic guitars ....

I've only looked at two so far , , ,
the Strat's winning on price and believe it or not it's actually NEWER than the Gibby, which may be past it's best...

Decisions,, decisions ....

I am far from an expert but the first thing that jumps out at me is not so much strat vs les paul but single coil vs humbucker. What sound are you going after?

It's just my little joke fellahs !
I don't want for either , its just that, because of my browsing habits, Google , or something , throws these pop up ads at me, one for a LP costing a third of a million and a Strat at a more reasonable 500 of my Brit quids ...

I realise it could have gone the other way , price dif wise....

I was going to get the Les Paul, but the shipping cost put me off.

The strat is much more versatile. It can do anything, with the exception of sounding like a Les Paul.

And that's why so many folks own both. Even a strat with a humbucker in the bridge doesn't sound like a Les Paul .

Personally I would go strat first because of the neck, neck/middle, and middle positions. Those three are so amazing to my ear.

I prefer Les Pauls but given the two choices you presented I'd go with the Strat hands down. A little easier on the insurance.

Rodger, I'm glad that you and a couple of others took the trouble to "get" my post, which is more than I can say for whomever moved this from the funnies section to "electric guitars", which as everyone knows, have no sense of humour...

( ) <---- Just to help electric players realise I'm kidding ....

MODS !! I demand to be moved back to open mic, where I belong .

It wasn't exactly hard to get You know Bud Abbott and his ilk always got paid more than the Lou Costello types.

I had the same decisions to make, and ended up getting a Gretsch and a Telecaster, and I'm very happy with both.

I want the LP, but cannot even afford the Strat, does that count?

Maybe you should start a crowd funding campaign to take the mods to the high court for moving your thread.
