Cold Jordan (Bluegrass Gospel)
Here's an old tune originally recorded by Ralph Stanley and written by Fred Rich called "Jordan," or "Cold Jordan." I first heard The Grateful Dead do it it, then various bluegrass groups. It's a simple thing, but I always liked it, and it's the kind of music I grew up on in West Virginia, so it was pretty natural learning it:

I didn't grow up anywhere near West Virginia (although I spent a summer there in 1975 building a cabin on land my brother owned), but as soon as you got to the chorus I remembered that song. Not sure I knew the Dead ever did it, but I was definitely familiar with it from somewhere, probably some bluegrass group. Seems like a song that a lot of folks probably did. Enjoyed your version a lot Tim. Keep 'em coming - you know a lot of really cool old songs.

Liked it Tim. Early and rare traditional dead cover.

Thank you, Joe. It's really common in bluegrass circles, and that's where I am most familiar with it. I do love the Dead's version, too, though.

Nice job! Haven't heard that one in a long time - I don't think I knew the name, actually.
