Default Super Bowl LII Thread

Super Bowl LII, Patriots vs Eagles.

What story lines are you following? Predictions? Is Gronk going to be healthy and a factor? How do you think Foles will play? Halftime show any good?

Predictions
Gronk will be a minor factor but his presence will open opportunities for other receivers.
Foles will play ok but will not be able to maintain his recent high level of play. He'll throw 1 pick.
Pats will struggle against the Philly D and need another 4th quarter comeback and prevail 31-27.
The city of Philadelphia will sustain record amounts of damage as disgruntled fans riot.

That's a great point. If Gronk is in the game it forces the defense to play differently and opens up other opportunities for Brady, even if Gronk isn't a pass target.

Default Prognostications.....

Gronk WILL play...and let it all hang out!
Brady will find the Philly *D* unflappable
Foles will light up the Pats secondary with a ton of West Coast crossing patterns and check downs to their own Tight End machine
Running games will be outside the tackles
Lagarett Blount will star
Both kickers will have 4 field goals
Eagles 26, Pats 22

Well, with that prediction you'll still be invited over to watch the game and you can play any guitar you want at half time but I'm serving you stale potato chips.

Predictions Hmmm?
Let’s see besides the fact that the smeagles have lost a QB having an MVP season, a 10(?) time pro bowl left tackle and probably their best all around weapon in D Sproles, not to mention their middle linebacker; they are playing the NFL’s Super Bowl machine.
So this is definitely NOT a prediction, but IF Philly somehow wins it would have to go down as the biggest upset in modern football history and I don’t care what the betting line says.

My prediction is that I'll probably fall asleep in the second half, since kickoff is at 11.30pm UK time. But I'll keep going as long as I can.

I'm just hoping things don't get too silly here in Minneapolis, whoever wins.

I didn't watch any of the regular season (I don't have TV and really didn't care) but I've watched every playoff game. The oddest thing I noticed was how the announcers kept greeting every Nick Foles play with,"Well, maybe THAT one was brilliant, but the next one won't be". They kept saying this over and over again, even as he was handing Minnesota's vaunted defense their jockstraps.

I predict that they will be saying the same thing throughout the first half of this game, as Philly surprises the Pats D, and takes a 13 point lead into the half.

The Pats will adjust, as they always do, but instead of pursuing the "let's run up the middle and get stuffed" game plan of the second-half Jaguars, Philly will keep pouring it on, eventually outlasting the inevitable Patriots 4th quarter heroics.

Final score, 27-24, Philadelphia.

Or not.

Gronk is back in practice!

As good as Philly's defense is, Brady kind of excels at picking apart elite defenses. It's what he does. As long as his O-line keeps the rush off him for a few seconds, he WILL find an open receiver.

As much as I would love to see the Eagles win their first NFL championship since 1960, it unfortunately probably won't happen.

I would love to be wrong though.

A sign of relief for many Gronk fans. He was injured last year and missed the Super Bowl so it's a good sign that he'll be part of this one.

The Patriots can blow out teams in the regular season but their games are always nailbiters in the Super Bowl.
